Hot Out of the Oven Fragrance Oil

$4.75 – $36.00

You said you were cutting back but the smell of warm butter and crushed cinnamon had other plans. Buttery dough folded with caramelized brown sugar. This scent leans into a base of melted vanilla cream frosting and sweet milk that clings to the air and is impossible to resist.

Hot Out of the Oven Fragrance Oil

What it smells like and what it does in a base

A sheet tray coming out at the moment the kitchen smells best — buttery dough just set, cinnamon through the middle of it, and a soft cream note sitting over the top like frosting that has not finished melting. Warm and plain in the best sense. It smells like a house, not a candle shop.

For the formulator it is the easy one. 2% vanillin keeps colour movement slow and predictable, it is cleared for cold process, the flashpoint is high, and the profile is broad enough to sell year round rather than only in the collection window. The one thing to watch is the certificate: this oil is tightly limited in body sprays and moderately limited in lotion, so read the ceilings before you scale either one.

Formulator's shorthand: the safe pick. Low colour risk, cold process cleared, easy in almost every base — as long as you are not building a body spray.

Guilty Pleasures

A fall and winter collection with no pumpkin, no spiced leaf and no cider stand — built on sugar, dairy and fried dough instead. Hot Out of the Oven is its centre of gravity: the plainest and most useful of the seven, and the one most likely to still be selling in May.

Tagged year-round rather than seasonal, and of the seven this is the one where that is most true. A plain warm bakery scent moves in every month of the year; the autumn framing is a merchandising decision, not a limit on the oil.

Behavior in base

The four things that go wrong, and whether they will here

Discoloration Expected — mild 2% vanillin. A white base drifts to cream over months rather than weeks. Slower in melt and pour, faster in cold process. A Vanilla Stabilizer is optional here rather than necessary.
Flashpoint 200 °F / 93 °C High, with a comfortable margin over any melt and pour pour temperature. Add as late as the process allows to protect the top.
Cold process soap Suitable — tested Holds at high pH. Expect a cream to tan bar and plan the design around that rather than against it. No acceleration or ricing reported in our trial.
Candles & wax Not rated No burn testing performed, so we do not list it as candle safe. Category 12 permits 89.999%, which is a legal ceiling rather than a performance result.

How much to use

Two different limits apply. Always use the lower one.

Start here — your base sets the rate 0.3% to 5% That is the entire range across all 86 of our bases, and 40 of them cap at 1%. How much fragrance a product can carry is decided by the base, not by the oil. For most of what you make, this is the number you formulate to — but not for body sprays or body lotion. See every base and its load →
The legal ceiling — not a target IFRA maximum Certified under the 51st Amendment. Rinse-off is generous at 5.219% and candles are effectively unlimited, but the leave-on skin categories are tight. Two of them come in below our own base allowances, which is where you need to pay attention.

Category maxima across our 86 bases. Facial and tear-free versions sit lower than the body version of the same base, and five of our sulfate-free bases specify a different load for vanillin-containing fragrances — which this is. Always take the figure from the base product page you are actually using, or see the full reference table.

Where IFRA is the binding limit: body sprays and deodorant at 0.149% against a 5% Body Spray Base allowance — a thirty-fold difference, and the single biggest gap on this page. Body lotion, body oil and hand cream at 0.682% against a 1% base allowance. Facial moisturizer at 0.447% against 0.3–0.6%. Everywhere else the base runs out first.
Not permitted in: lip products and children's toys (Category 1) and oral care of all types (Category 6). Both are printed as Not Approved on the certificate. Baby products, intimate wipes and feminine hygiene (Categories 5D, 8, 11A and 11B) are permitted but capped at 0.149%.

Certified by Essentials by Catalina under the 51st Amendment of the IFRA Code of Practice, published June 2023. Certificate dated 6 October 2026. Categories 1 and 6 are printed as Not Approved rather than as a numeric ceiling. The 51st splits several of the old classes — what used to be Class 5 is now 5A through 5D, and candles have their own Category 12 — so these figures do not map one-to-one onto certificates issued under the 48th Amendment.

Why our oils behave differently from most

Many suppliers sell fragrance oils cut with carrier oils or diluents to reduce cost. Ours are concentrated, pure, undiluted and cosmetic grade. A concentrated oil means a lower fragrance load per batch — a little goes a long way, and your cost per unit drops even when the per-ounce price does not.

Product compatibility is not the responsibility of Essentials By Catalina, Inc. We strongly advise sampling before committing to larger quantities so you can evaluate performance, compatibility and safety in your own formulation. Keep all products out of children's reach.

Cinnamon Roll Fragrance Oil

Introducing our enticing fragrance oil, Cinnamon Roll – a delectable olfactory journey that brings the irresistible aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls to life. Savor the heavenly scent as it fills your space with the comforting fragrance of cinnamon, expertly blended with a touch of richness that mirrors the indulgent sweetness of a perfect cinnamon roll. The buttery undertones add a luscious dimension, creating a harmonious balance that captivates the senses. Crafted with precision, our Cinnamon Roll fragrance oil is designed to elevate your creative endeavors, whether you're making lotions, soaps, or other delightful creations. Transform any environment into a haven of warmth and sweetness, where the essence of freshly baked treats lingers.

Pure & Undiluted

While other suppliers may offer different grades of Fragrance Oils that may be diluted or cut with carrier oils, at Essentials by Catalina we only offer concentrated, pure and undiluted Cosmetic Grade Fragrance Oils. Working with concentrated Fragrance Oils such as these reduces the need for high fragrance loads. A little goes a long way. For recommended fragrance loads please see the "Customization" tabs or consult the fragrance or essential oils IFRA document.
