While some candle fragrances are considered “skin safe,” they are composed of an entirely different solvent profile than cosmetic grade fragrances. These solvents can break down gels and washes, cloud and/or pool in sprays, and are generally not compatible with personal care bases.
That said, 90% of cosmetic grade FOs will result in a crystal clear product, but there are a handful that won’t, which is why we suggest compatibility testing in small samples prior to making a large batch.

Many fragrances available today are formulated as “skin-safe candle scents.”
This is why we highly recommend small batch testing to ensure full compatibility with your product. For example, some of these “skin-safe” oils may be cut with diluents like DPG (Dipropylene Glycol) or alcohol to reduce cost and viscosity.
