Glazed Apple Fritter Fragrance Oil

What it smells like and what it does in a base

Granny Smith apple going into hot oil, cinnamon sugar hitting the crust, and a thin sweet glaze setting over the top. It reads as fruit first and bakery second, which is what keeps it from collapsing into generic apple pie. There is no pumpkin anywhere near it.

For the formulator this is the one oil in the collection that will not move your colour. At 0.1% vanillin it is effectively vanillin-free — the lowest in the set by a factor of sixteen, and low enough that a white lotion or a clear melt and pour stays that way for a normal shelf life with no stabiliser at all. It is also rated for cold process. If you need a gourmand that behaves like a floral in a white base, this is it.

Formulator's shorthand: the white-base gourmand. The only oil here you can put in a clear soap or a white lotion and forget about.

Guilty Pleasures

A fall and winter collection with no pumpkin, no spiced leaf and no cider stand — built on sugar, dairy and fried dough instead. Glazed Apple Fritter is the light end of it: the one that reads as fruit, and the only one that leaves a white base alone.

Behavior in base

The four things that go wrong, and whether they will here

Discoloration Negligible 0.1% vanillin, the lowest in the collection. Nothing meaningful will happen to a white base. A Vanilla Stabilizer is not needed here — save it for the doughnut and the pie.
Flashpoint 200 °F / 93 °C High, with a comfortable margin over any melt and pour pour temperature. Still add as late as the process allows; the apple top note is the first thing heat takes.
Cold process soap Suitable — tested Holds at high pH, which fruit accords often do not. Expect little to no discoloration in the bar, so a pale or swirled design is actually on the table.
Candles & wax Not rated No burn testing has been performed on this oil, so we do not list it as candle safe. The certificate permits wax use; that is a legal ceiling, not a performance result.

How much to use

Two different limits apply. Always use the lower one.

Start here — your base sets the rate 0.3% to 5% That is the entire range across all 86 of our bases, and 40 of them cap at 1%. How much fragrance a product can carry is decided by the base, not by the oil. For nearly everything you make, this is the number you formulate to. See every base and its load →
The legal ceiling — not a target IFRA maximum Certified under the 51st Amendment. The skin categories sit at a flat 1.189%, which is above most of our base allowances — so the base is usually the binding limit. Four rows on the current certificate are under review and are not published here.

Category maxima across our 86 bases. Facial and tear-free versions sit lower than the body version of the same base. Always take the figure from the base product page you are actually using, or see the full reference table.

Where IFRA is the binding limit: body sprays (0.476% against a 5% Body Spray Base allowance), bath bombs and body scrubs (1.189% against a 2% base allowance), and leave-on hair care (0.951% against 1%). Everywhere else the base runs out of capacity first.
Four figures are under review. The current certificate lists values for oral care and for Categories 11A, 11B and 12 that are inconsistent with the rest of the document and with every other oil in this collection. We are not publishing them. If you need a ceiling for any of those uses, email hello@essentialsbycatalina.com and wait for the reissued certificate rather than working from the current PDF.

Pure & undiluted

Why our oils behave differently from most

Many suppliers sell fragrance oils cut with carrier oils or diluents to reduce cost. Ours are concentrated, pure, undiluted and cosmetic grade. A concentrated oil means a lower fragrance load per batch — a little goes a long way, and your cost per unit drops even when the per-ounce price does not.

Product compatibility is not the responsibility of Essentials By Catalina, Inc. We strongly advise sampling before committing to larger quantities so you can evaluate performance, compatibility and safety in your own formulation. Keep all products out of children's reach.
