This wonderfully succulent body cream base is one of our oldest and most popular formulas… with an update! We’ve removed all Parabens and Triethanolamine from our recipe leaving you with an amazing all-over body cream that’s completely guilt-free!

Mixing Recommendations
Follow these steps for consistent results
Work at room temperature
Mix within a range of 20–25 °C (68–77 °F). No heating is required.
Add in the right order
Blend in fragrance or essential oil first, then colorant, then additives — adding each one slowly until fully incorporated.
Mix until uniform
Hand-mixing with a spatula works well for small batches. For larger volumes, use an electric mixer with a paddle attachment.

Shelf Life
This product has a shelf life of 1 year from the date of manufacture when stored properly.
Store in a Cool, Dry Place
Keep containers at 60–80 °F (15–27 °C), away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Avoid storing near windows, radiators, or in vehicles.
Keep Containers Sealed
Always replace lids and caps tightly after each use. Exposure to air can introduce contaminants and accelerate degradation.
Use Clean Tools
When scooping or transferring product, use clean utensils to prevent cross-contamination. Avoid reaching in with bare hands.

If I were to add Shea butter to this basic body cream, what percentage should I add?-
Good Morning, 2% is a good starting point. Our Frosting with Butters, which is very rich, contains a 7% Shea/Cocoa butter blend and it is extremely popular. We suggest small batch testing until you reach your desired consistency. Keep in mind, when mixing butters (which act just like cow’s butter) you will want to warm the base and melt the butters, then mix.

Hello! I love this body cream base so much! I added 1.5% fragrance load and 2% jojoba oil. I just mixed it in a room temp and whipped it. Do I need to add more preservative or anything? Will it stay stable? Thank you! -
Hi Melissa, thanks for reaching out, and that sounds like a lovely blend. No, you don’t need to add anything. Our bases are already properly preserved. When using additives, just make sure you only use Cosmetic Grade, which ensures they too, are preserved. If all you are adding are oils, you don’t need to worry. It’s only when you add water, which is an inherent contaminant, that you should always preserve the water prior to adding. Hope this helps!

Hi Melissa, there is no need to add additional preservative when you are adding oils/butters or cosmetic grade additives to a base. The only time you would need to add preservative is if you were adding water. Thank you!

I wanted to ask—does your body cream require any additional ingredients like shea butter or other moisturizers, or is it ready to go with just fragrance added?
I’m looking for something that’s smooth, moisturizing, and can hold scent well without needing too many extra steps. Would love to hear more about your formulation and recommended usage.

Hi Tatiana, all of our bases are finished products, ready to use as-is, or can be customized with fragrance, color, and additives if you so choose.
If you are looking for a cream with butters, our most popular cream is our Whipped Body Frosting. It comes with or without a 7% shea and cocoa butter blend, and it is great for wintertime skin.

I have a question about this base. Typically I add unrefined Shea Butter to my foaming sugar scrubs. I have to heat it to make a liquid form to mix it in. My question is can I still do this process with the basic body cream base or will the heat from the melted shea butter affect the base? I see you carry refined shea butter. Is that an easier option for that base? I ask because I have a good amount of the unrefined left I would like to use first. I’m assuming that the more additives like oils and butters I add them thinner the base will become. Is there a recommendation on the max of oils and butters to add to keep the base thick? -
Thanks for reaching out. You can definitely mix Shea Butter into the basic body cream, and heating it is fine. If you are going to go higher than 5% we recommend testing for stability. The butter will make the cream really rich, and susceptible to temperature fluctuation just like our body frosting with butters. It would only get thin when the weather is warm, as the butters melt just like cow’s butter. I still would not consider that “thin.” Refined or unrefined is up to you. Unrefined has a scent and slight color whereas refined does not.

Superior Lotion Base!!!
Finally, I found the perfect base lotion.. the Basic Body Cream here at EBC! The consistency is fabulous, not too thick, but definitely not thin. Creamy and somewhat fluffy, rubs in easily and doesn’t leave your skin feeling sticky/greasy. Even better, it maintains it’s wonderful consistency after adding fragrance oil. Perfect lotion for both jars or squeeze bottles. It has the lightest base scent I’ve encountered and is easily masked by fragrance oils, which is super important to me. I also like that it comes in pails, making it easy to get every last bit of the lotion out. And just when you think it can’t get any better, this vegan base is paraben, cruelty, gluten, soy, and sulfate free.
Hope EBC never stops selling this, they really do have a gem of a lotion base on their hands.
