Fall Retreat Fragrance Oil

What it smells like and what it does in a base

Your very own personal escape into autumn, as warm and inviting as stepping away from the noise of the city into a hidden sanctuary. At its heart is a spiced pumpkin chai, heavy on warm black tea steeped with crushed cardamom and cinnamon and softened with steamed milk. It invites you to slow down and stay a while.

For the formulator, this is the spice in the collection, and the one with the lowest vanillin — around 1%, so it barely moves a white base. Two numbers need attention. The flashpoint is the lowest in the set at 171 °F, so add it late and cool. And the IFRA certificate caps body sprays at 2.66% and candles at 1.06%, which takes candles off the table.

Formulator's shorthand: the whitest-staying oil in a very vanilla collection. Use it where colour matters; skip it for candles.

Sweater Weather

Seven scents for the season when the only plan is a blanket, a book and nowhere to be. Mornings on the porch, afternoons in bed, evenings off the clock — cosy gourmands, one spiced chai and one autumn floral.

Behavior in base

The four things that go wrong, and whether they will here

DiscolorationMinimal~1% vanillin, the lowest in the collection. White bases stay close to white.
Flashpoint171 °F / 77 °CThe lowest in the collection. Add late and as cool as the process allows, or the top spices flash off.
Cold process soapNot yet ratedWe have not rated this oil for cold process. Test a small batch for acceleration and scent morph before scaling up.
Candles & waxNot suitableThe IFRA certificate caps candles at 1.06%, far below a workable candle load of 6–10%.

How much to use

Two different limits apply. Always use the lower one.

Start here — your base sets the rate0.3% to 5%That is the entire range across all 86 of our bases, and 40 of them cap at 1%. How much fragrance a product can carry is decided by the base, not by the oil.See every base and its load →

Pure & undiluted

Why our oils behave differently from most

Many suppliers sell fragrance oils cut with carrier oils or diluents to reduce cost. Ours are concentrated, pure, undiluted and cosmetic grade. A concentrated oil means a lower fragrance load per batch — a little goes a long way, and your cost per unit drops even when the per-ounce price does not.

Product compatibility is not the responsibility of Essentials By Catalina, Inc. We strongly advise sampling before committing to larger quantities so you can evaluate performance, compatibility and safety in your own formulation. Keep all products out of children's reach.
