Mixing Recommendations
Follow these steps for consistent results
Work at room temperature
Mix within a range of 20–25 °C (68–77 °F). No heating is required.
Add fragrance or essential oil and colorant
Mix in slowly until fully incorporated and uniform. Hand-mixing with a spatula or mixing directly in the container is recommended for this base.

Shelf Life
This product has a shelf life of 1 year from the date of manufacture when stored properly. Being alcohol-based, it will typically last well beyond this.
Store in a Cool, Dry Place
Keep containers at 60–80 °F (15–27 °C), away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Flammable — keep away from open flame or fire.
Keep Containers Sealed
Always replace lids and caps tightly after each use. Exposure to air can introduce contaminants and accelerate degradation.
Use Clean Tools
When scooping or transferring product, use clean utensils to prevent cross-contamination. Avoid reaching in with bare hands.

How do you suggest adding color to the shimmer base? I have tried mixing mica into my fragrance oil, and then adding to the base. But even when I do this, the mica separates out and clumps up. -
Hi Barbara, The Shimmer Mist formulation is perfectly balanced to suspend the mica already in it. Adding more will break the formulation, causing all the mica to fall. You only want to use liquid colorants, aka FD&C colorants, in the Shimmer Mist. A drop or two is all it takes to give the base a beautiful, pearlescent hue. Thank you

Hi Amanda, as an alcohol based spray, yes, the Shimmer Mist is flammable. If you wish to put a warning on your finished product, you can, but it is not required. Thank you

I see this has alcohol in the base, but not the % ratio amount… Does this have a ground-transportation only restriction? I am looking for a base that allows me to ship without restrictions and international. -

Is there any way to thin the shimmer mist for a fine spray bottle? -
Hi Deb, thank you for reaching out. The shimmer mist is made to take FO or EO at the percentages recommended under the “Consulting” tab on the product page. That addition will thin the base. If you wish to thin it further, you risk the suspending agent failing and the shimmer falling. It is a perfectly balanced formula as is, and customizing beyond what is recommended is not advisable.

What kind of spray bottle do you recommend? Ours is shooting a straight stream and not a spray. -
Good Morning, the shimmer mist works best with a high output sprayer, which sprays a mist but has a larger intake tube. That is what you want to search for. Hope this helps

Does this product settle to the bottom in bottles? -
Hi Patrice, overloading the shimmer with fragrance will cause the mica to sink. Please refer to the mixing instructions under the “Customization” tab on the product page for specific percentage recommendations. Thank you
