Benefits of coffee on the skin
This whipped coffee face mask recipe features coffee extract. Coffee is beneficial for the skin because it acts as an antioxidant and contains caffeine. Caffeine helps reduce inflammation. Incorporating coffee extract into a face mask will help brighten and even out the skin tone.
You can add instant coffee to this recipe for extra coffee fragrance and color. Just be sure to test in small batches. We don’t recommend using coffee grounds, as it may be too harsh on the skin of the face.
Benefits of oatmeal on the skin
Colloidal oats or ground oatmeal are other key components to this whipped coffee face mask recipe. Colloidal oatmeal is not just ground oats. It is produced by finely grinding the oat and boiling it to extract the colloidal material (source 1). If you don’t have colloidal oatmeal, you can use ground oats instead.
Oatmeal has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. The ground oats also act as a gentle exfoliator. The texture of either the colloidal or ground oats will gently buff the skin, making way for a fresher complexion.
