Festive Day of The Dead Inspired Hand and Body Wash Recipe

marigold body wash

Day of the Dead is a celebratory holiday to remember the dead. It is celebrated from November 1st to the 2nd and involves family and friends gathering to pay respects to those who have passed. This Day of The Dead inspired hand and body wash recipe shines a light on the festive celebration filled with bright colors, delicious smells, and warm feelings.

We will be using our Cempasuchil (Marigold) Fragrance Oil. But any fragrance oils in our Dia de Muertos collection will do wonderfully in this recipe. The two-tone color is achieved because of the suspension shower gel base. The unique gel formula can suspend additives without sinking to the bottom of the bottle. The two colors will stay separated for a while but will eventually bleed together after a few weeks.

Recipe

This recipe will yield about 16 8-ounce bottles of product. Use the batch calculator to adjust the batch size.

This is a fairly easy recipe with minimum mixing instructions. Test your fragrance in a small batch to ensure the Suspension Shower Gel Base is compatible. Some fragrances will cause the formula to separate or become runny.

Materials

  • Two mixing containers: One that is big enough for your batch size.
  • Spatula: Silicone spatulas are easy to clean and sanitize.
  • Filling vessel: A funnel or measuring cup with a narrow spout.
  • 8-ounce Clear Bottle with a 24/410 black press disk or saddle pump: you want a clear bottle to showcase the product.

Mixing Instructions

  1. Evenly separate your batch into two containers.
  2. In one container, add half the fragrance, glitter, and tangerine colorant until you achieve the perfect marigold color. Mix until everything is evenly dispersed.
  3. For the other container add the rest of the glitter, fragrance, tangerine colorant, and a few drops of cherry colorant until you reach a red-orange.
  4. To achieve the split color look, fill each bottle halfway with the tangerine, then pour the other color on top. You can keep to one pattern or alternate.
