Spooky Jelly Soap Inspired By Halloween Slime

Spooky Jelly Soap

Halloween has grown into a multi-billion dollar industry and is now one of the top spending holidays. Use this spooky jelly soap recipe to attract the ghost and ghoul-loving customer.

The average shopper spending is expected to be around $103.63 (source 1). With 73% of Americans participating in activities (source 2) in some form. It is worth jumping on the growing market.

Our melt-and-pour Jelly Soap Base is stable at room temperature and doesn’t require refrigeration. This recipe can easily be scaled to larger and smaller batches. The spooky slime-green color and fun texture are inspired by Halloween slime and will surely be a shop favorite.

Filled into our 4-ounce natural plastic dome double wall jars, pouring the melted soap base into the final packing destination reduces production time. Use care when filling, as the liquid will be hot. If it is too hot it could warp or melt plastic packaging. We have found that cooling any heat-sensitive jars in a cold water bath as you pour can help avoid the warping issue.

Each gallon of jelly soap weighs roughly 8 pounds. So If you want to double the batch, you will need 16 pounds (or 2 gallons) of Jelly Soap Base.

Instructions

When making a small batch (4-8 Jars) use the double boiler method. Use a large heavy-bottomed stock pot with a spout when making bigger batches. The spout is helpful because it allows for easy pouring. Just be sure to follow the manufacturer’s heat warnings. Slowly melt the soap on medium to low heat, stirring the soap occasionally.

  1. Melt the jelly soap on medium-low heat until it is completely liquid. Stir the mixture occasionally and gently. Too much stirring will cause a lot of bubbles to form.
  2. Add the fragrance, yellow and green colorant (at a 3:1 ratio), and glitter. Gently mix until everything is evenly dispersed. And then let it heat for a few more minutes to minimize the air pockets.
  3. Turn off the heat then fill the soap directly in the jars. Spritz the tops with alcohol for a smoother surface finish.
  4. Let the soap cool completely before putting the lids on.
