It’s no secret that essential oils have their benefits, so why not put them into a balm that you can carry with you? Balms are a great option for on the go moisturization, and a little goes a long way! These balms are so simple to make with our all natural Lotion Bar and Balm Base, so let’s get started!
Essential Oils Types and Their Benefits:
Of course, there are endless possibilities of essential oils you can use for your own preference, but in this post we are going to focus on four of the amazing creations you can make!
- Eucalyptus Mint – Eucalyptus has many benefits such as promoting relaxation and relieving cold symptoms. Peppermint has similar benefits such as relieving headaches, muscle aches, reducing stress, and also relieving cold symptoms. Together they make the perfect pair! For 1/2 ounce of balm, use 4 drops Eucalyptus and 2 drops Peppermint.
- Fir Needle – This essential oil is said to reduce fatigue, body odor, and pain. Not to mention it smells just like walking into a forest! For 1/2 ounce of balm, use 6 drops of Fir Needle.
Materials:
- Heat safe bowl/beaker
- Mixing tools/bowls
- Pipette/measuring device
- Jars/containers to store your balm
Instructions:
- Measure the Lotion Bar and Balm Base. For small batches, you can measure five ounces of the base
- Place base in heat safe bowl/beaker and melt on low heat, or in 30 second increments in the microwave until fully melted
- Once fully melted, divide evenly among 10 small bowls/containers for mixing. This will give you roughly ten 1/2 ounce jars. I like to use separate containers for mixing because the beeswax in this base causes it to harden rather quickly. So it works best to mix in your essential oils in a bowl first, then transfer to your storage containers, to insure you have fully incorporated the essential oils
- Add in 2% of your choice of essential oils; reference the list above for 1/2 ounce jars of balm, and mix thoroughly
- Pour into your jars/containers and let cool
- After completely cooling, these balms are ready to use! Apply to wrist, neck, or temples as needed.
