If you’ve been browsing the online skincare world recently, I’m sure you’ve heard of Body Butter. There are so many variations now that it seems hard to choose one, so why not make your own? Its super simple, versatile, and you know exactly what you’re putting on your body.
Materials:
- Microwave safe bowl/beaker
- Spatula/mixing tool
- Electric hand mixer/stand mixer
- Jars/containers to store your body butter
Instructions:
- Measure out 8oz of Safflower Oil and 16oz of Shea Butter separately
- Heat the Shea Butter in a microwave safe container for 30 seconds and stir. Repeat until completely melted
- Once your Shea Butter is melted, add the Safflower Oil and mix thoroughly. Then put in the fridge/freezer until firm
- Put your mixture into a stand mixer with a whisk attachment. Mix until creamy in texture
- Add 1-2% fragrance oil, depending on how strong you want the scent
- If adding mica powder and/or colorant, add 2oz mica powder and 3 drops of colorant. If desired color is not reached, add a few drops of colorant at a time while mixing until you reach the desired color
- Pour into jars/containers and place your body butter in the fridge until firm. You may then transfer them to a cool, dry space for storage
How to Use:
- Body butter is different than lotion and should be used in very small amounts
- After the shower, pat skin dry and rub a pea size amount of body butter into your skin
- For extra dry areas, you may need more butter to moisturize
- Notice softer, more glowing skin just after your first use!
