Once September has come and gone, the year seems to gather speed, barreling downhill toward the holidays. Blink once, and there goes Halloween. Blink again, there goes Thanksgiving. Just when you think you have a grasp on time, Boom, Christmas is upon us! Preparing for Christmas early is essential in the bath and body industry, as this pre-holiday season is when people tend to spend the most in retail avenues.
Preparing For Christmas in The Bath & Body Industry
Once fall hits, your game plan for the holiday season should already be in play. Here is a checklist of things to consider when preparing for Christmas.
What Products Will You Have?
Create a winter wonderland of products and bring them to life with beautiful displays. Once the weather starts cooling down, it’s only a matter of time before it is downright frigid in a lot of states. Are your products ready for the change of seasons? Do you need to incorporate new, more moisturizing elements into your skin care line to combat winter-dry skin?
Thick lotions and creams are fantastic sellers once those chilly temps have arrived. Winter weather is hard on skin, leaving it flaky, dry and chapped, so a thick body cream is a must have. Our Pumpkin Body Custard is a rich, nourishing body cream, perfect for fall, as well as the rest of the seasons. Scent it accordingly with one of a variety of holiday fragrances we carry such as Candy Cane, Sugared Cranberry or Winter Carnival. Let the delectable aromas of caramel, cinnamon, peppermint and frosty pines put you AND your customers in a festive state of mind!
What Fragrances Will You Have?
If you rotate seasonal fragrances, have your winter line-up refined and ready to go. We make a habit of always ordering fall fragrance samples in August. It’s never too early to search for new holiday fragrances to display alongside your staple fragrances. A nice variety of the season’s best scents get people into the holiday spirit.

Have a Plan B
In this industry the holiday season means the busy season. When order volume increases substantially, often vendors will be caught off guard and run out of product – it happens to the best of us! Now is the time to plan ahead and consider upping your purchase volume, as you don’t want to run out of product and miss the boat of holiday shoppers! It’s wise to order a bit more than you usually would. The shelf life of our bases is one year from the date of purchase, so if you don’t use all the base for the holiday season, you can use it well into the new year.
- Make a list of what you may need, and check it twice.
- Want to jazz up your line with some new fragrances? If so, order samples now!
- Have a backup plan. Order slightly more than you anticipate needing to ensure your shelves are well stocked for that holiday rush.
