Meadowfoam Seed Oil For Hair

Meadowfoam Seed Oil for hair is a hugely underrated beauty oil, especially for your hair. It is very similar to Jojoba Oil making it is a great alternative.

Prepare yourself because we are about to give the scoop on this great ingredient.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil For Hair

Meadowfoam Oil is a clear, thick oil pressed from the seeds of the Meadowfoam wildflower. It has a long chain of fatty acids, so it is not able to penetrate the skin and hair. It coats the skin and hair locking in moisture. This makes for great hair taming products and for curly/wavy hair types.

Gentle Cleansing Shampoo

This shampoo gently cleanses your hair while locking in moisture. This recipe uses our Coconut Oil Liquid Soap Base and Meadowfoam Seed Oil. The coconut oil liquid soap will gently clean your hair while the meadowfoam seed oil will help the hair follicle retain moisture. This shampoo is perfect for taming frizzy and uncontrollable curly hair. It will clean your hair without completely stripping it down to a dry, crispy mess. The Meadowfoam Seed Oil will help lock in moisture and calm the frizz. We recommend following up the shampoo with a Meadowfoam infused conditioner.

  • 97% Coconut Oil Liquid Soap Base
  • 2% Meadowfoam Seed Oil
  • 1% Fragrance or Essential Oil

Meadowfoam Seed Oil Deep Conditioning Treatment

After a gentle cleanser, having a deep conditioner to go with the treatment is just about mandatory. We used our Reconstructive Conditioner Base because of its thickness and conditioning elements. And of course, add Meadowfoam Seed Oil to lock down locks. The Meadowfoam will coat the hair without feeling too heavy. To use, wash hair and then apply the conditioner to hair. Lather thru the hair and then rinse out thoroughly. The hair will be left feeling soft and moisturized. Curls will be left polished and smooth, while straight hair will be left smooth without any flyaways. This is a heavy duty hair treatment that should be used every now and then.

  • 98% Reconstructive Conditioner Base
  • 1% Meadowfoam Seed Oil
  • 1% Fragrance or Essential Oil

Meadowfoam Seed Oil Leave In Hair Treatments

For a finishing touch of tame use or if you just want to have a finishing styling product for your line. Use a small amount of Meadowfoam Seed Oil in our Conditioning Detangling Spray, or in our Hydrating Botanical Mist. Both of these bases would require a solubilizer such as Poly 20. Or you can use the oil all on its own dispersed onto your the hands, however, keep in mind it is a thick oil, so a little will go a long way.

Mixing Meadow foam Seed Oil Into Product

  1. Add the meadow foam seed oil and fragrance oil into the product at the same time.
  2. Mix thoroughly until you are sure all of the oil is dispersed.

    1. Hello Amelia! We’re glad to hear you liked the post. Using the right amount of meadowfoam seed oil for the hair depends on your specific hair type. Some people can use it only every other week, while others can use it every other day. While it is well known that meadowfoam seed oil can be beneficial for hair growth, we cannot make those specific claims.
