Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate

Sodium cocoyl isethionate (SCI) is an important surfactant ingredient in mild, syndet (synthetic detergent) cleansing bars (soap).  It’s a common replacement for animal-derived sodium salts like sodium tallowate, which is derived from cattle and sheep.
