Jojoba Oil is a well known skin moisturizer normally found in very high-end hair and skin products. It comes from the seeds of a large shrub that may grow up to 15 feet in height. The jojoba plant grows in North America, specifically northern Mexico and the southwestern United States. This oil became popular as a moisturizing agent when hunting whales was banned.
Jojoba is rich in iodine and antioxidants. Although it is an oil, it does not clog pores. The oil forms a barrier that effectively locks moisture in and keeps skin soft and supple. Jojoba oil also contains vitamin E, and is said to have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It is a light oil, which makes for a great carrier. Jojoba oil’s moisturizing qualities are also beneficial for hair.
