- A solubilizer, such as Polysorbate 20 Solubilizer, is needed if adding fragrance or essential oils to a water-based product. It is best to small batch test this prior to mixing the entire gallon. Pre-mix solubilizer with fragrance/essential oil before adding to the base. Start at a 1:1 ratio of Polysorbate 20 to Fragrance. Depending on your specific fragrance oil, a ratio of up to 5:1 may be necessary.
- Pre-mix solubilizer with oil before adding to the base
- Special note: If fragrance does not solubilize into the base, adding more polysorbate to the scented base will not fix it. The polysorbate must be mixed into the fragrance prior to adding to the base. This is why testing in small quantities is highly recommended. Up to a 5:1 ratio.

- Mixing Temperature: room temperature
- Add fragrance or essential oil, colorant, and additives. Mix in slowly until fully incorporated and uniform.
- Mix directly in gallon or hand mix with a spatula.
- Oil soluble ingredients or oil soluble fragrances must be pre-mixed with a solubilizer such as Polysorbate 20.
